My journey to being a healer started with my being a Division 1 athlete in two different sports which gave me an awareness of body movement and functionality. Later, while in the military, I began to experience body disharmony that didn’t respond to typical western medicine intervention. After leaving the military, I began my training in earnest completing my massage certification in 1999 at the Southwest Institute for the Healing Arts. A few years later, I was able to further my studies by earning my Master’s degree in Five Element acupuncture at the Tai Sophia Institute in Columbia, MD. And, then I added in Reiki, completing all three levels of training, at the Cacye-Reilly School of Massotherapy. As an avid gardener, I was always in love with herbs, had a western understanding of them and used them for my own benefit. I eventually completed a 2-year clinical course in Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Won Institute. I returned to Won for my Doctorate in Acupuncture which I completed in 2022.
I am always seeking out new ways to treat patients. Far beyond the basic courses in acupuncture school, I have studied Dr. Tan’s Magical Points, Master Tung’s points, scalp acupuncture, colorpuncture, qi gong, Hands on Healing, electro acupuncture, essential oils, stone medicine, auriculotherapy, to name a few.
I welcome the opportunity to meet each patient exactly where he/she is in life – wanting a wellness boost, needing relief from pain, allergies, insomnia or other disharmonies, dealing with psycho-spiritual struggles, or, more recently, desiring to have a more youthful visage presented to the world.
